Skincare products are something I’ve
been slowly exploring. I have been committed to my Clinique line for the past
decade, but lately, I’ve been more adventurous to venture out to newer brands.
I stumbled upon the Fab Faves To Go Kit from First Aid Beauty in Sephora the
first week I moved to Houston.
This brand is formulated for sensitive
and eczema-prone skin, which is what I usually suffer from whenever I move to a
humid and hot climate, so I thought it would be a good idea to give it a try. The
set contained travel-sized products of the Facial Radiance Pads, Face Cleanser,
and the Ultra Repair Cream.
Facial Cleanser
I was not a big fan of this cleanser,
which was really disappointing. To me, the cleanser had a weird and thick
consistency. I also had the infamous ‘dry’ feeling shortly after washing my
face.
Facial Radiance Pads
The pads work both as a physical and
chemical exfoliant. They contain lactic and glycolic acids and dot-embossed
pads that provide the physical exfoliating action to remove dead skin cells.
I used it as I would with a toner, right
after I cleansed my face. The pads had a medicated scent that really put me
off. On top of that, I thought the pads were a too abrasive for me as I had a
burning sensation after use. They are certainly a perfect idea for travel, as
it would be convenient 3-in-1 (exfoliator, toner, cotton pad) and you wouldn’t
have to pack so much.
Ultra Repair Cream
This is an all-purpose cream that you
can use on your problematic areas on your body and face. I used it as a
day-cream for the first two days after my purchase and oh boy, that was the
biggest no-no. This cream + my oily complexion + Houston’s hot and humid
weather made my face shine within an hour or 2 after application. It made me
feel uncomfortable and heavy all day. I would use this as a night cream or as a
lotion for drier parts of my body. This would probably work great for those who
have dry skin and need a quick hydration.
Overall, I was pretty disappointed with
the 30bucks I spent on this set, however; I am glad that I did not splurge and
bought the full-size version of either products before trying them out. I guess
you can say that I will probably not re-purchase any of the products again in
the future.
