Review: First Aid Beauty - Fabs Faves To Go Kit

Skincare products are something I’ve been slowly exploring. I have been committed to my Clinique line for the past decade, but lately, I’ve been more adventurous to venture out to newer brands. I stumbled upon the Fab Faves To Go Kit from First Aid Beauty in Sephora the first week I moved to Houston.
This brand is formulated for sensitive and eczema-prone skin, which is what I usually suffer from whenever I move to a humid and hot climate, so I thought it would be a good idea to give it a try. The set contained travel-sized products of the Facial Radiance Pads, Face Cleanser, and the Ultra Repair Cream.
Facial Cleanser
I was not a big fan of this cleanser, which was really disappointing. To me, the cleanser had a weird and thick consistency. I also had the infamous ‘dry’ feeling shortly after washing my face.
Facial Radiance Pads
The pads work both as a physical and chemical exfoliant. They contain lactic and glycolic acids and dot-embossed pads that provide the physical exfoliating action to remove dead skin cells.
I used it as I would with a toner, right after I cleansed my face. The pads had a medicated scent that really put me off. On top of that, I thought the pads were a too abrasive for me as I had a burning sensation after use. They are certainly a perfect idea for travel, as it would be convenient 3-in-1 (exfoliator, toner, cotton pad) and you wouldn’t have to pack so much.
Ultra Repair Cream
This is an all-purpose cream that you can use on your problematic areas on your body and face. I used it as a day-cream for the first two days after my purchase and oh boy, that was the biggest no-no. This cream + my oily complexion + Houston’s hot and humid weather made my face shine within an hour or 2 after application. It made me feel uncomfortable and heavy all day. I would use this as a night cream or as a lotion for drier parts of my body. This would probably work great for those who have dry skin and need a quick hydration.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed with the 30bucks I spent on this set, however; I am glad that I did not splurge and bought the full-size version of either products before trying them out. I guess you can say that I will probably not re-purchase any of the products again in the future.

Have you ever tried any of the First Aid Beauty products? What did you use and what were your thoughts?

Love,
Rachel

Loose Button Luxe Advent Calendar: 19th December

Hey guys :)

6 more days til Christmas! :D Behind the 19th door today, is the YSL Forever Youth Liberator Eye Cream.

This pairs well with the YSL Forever Youth Liberator Serum I got on the 17th. It is nice that LooseButton had it such that there are pairs of skin care products to try out for every brand. Like all the other skincare products I've gotten so far, this can be used for both day and night.
I will be giving this to my mom to try out. I got 3mL (0.1oz) compared to the full-size which is 0.5oz in volume. It retails for 98CAD.  :)

I hope your winter holidays are going great! I am here in Arizona and am loving the nice warm weather compared Canada. Vancouver snowed so much these few days resulting in translink failure! I am so glad that I am being snowed in :P

This is a view from my balcony :)

Loose Button Luxe Advent Calendar: 17th December

Good Morning guys! :)

It's pretty darn early in the morning right now. Figured I would post this before I head to the airport just incase I don't have time to blog later on.

I got my lavender candle burning in the background while I do my last minute packing. I love burning candles while I'm busy as it really brings a soothing atmosphere into the room.

Anyways, behind the tiny 17th door is the YSL Forever Youth Liberator Serum

This product was described to be
"A groundbreaking, high-performance anti-aging serum Highly concentrated with Glycanactif TM, a patented blend of three glycans Helps reactivate vital functions of skin cells & promote mechanisms of skin regeneration Remarkably reduces appearance of fine liner & wrinkles Skin appears softer, firmer, brighter, fresher, plumper & younger looking"
Similar to all 5 serums I've received so far, this can be used for your day and night regime after your moisturizer. It comes in nice metallic lilac glass vial, containing 5mL of product. It also came with a dropper which makes application SO much easier and cleaner.

As much as I really enjoy receiving high-end samples, I feel that I have gotten my fair share of skin-care products from this advent calendar. I have been using the Shu Umera Phyto-black lift serum everyday and night since the 3rd and am not even close to emptying it.

In addition to that, being 22, neither wrinkles nor dullness related to aging should be a concern for me.
I hope there's no more serum hiding behind the rest of the 7 remaining doors.

I have a what's in my travel bag post coming up sometime today during my travels, so stay tuned to that! :)

I will see you all again when I am settled at home with my family

xoxo,
Racheese :)

Loose Button Luxe Advent Calendar: 10th December

Hey guys!

I hope you guys are having a great day so far!
I am back and ready to reveal the product behind the 10th door :)

Today, I got the another skincare product, this time it is the Lancôme Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate.
This is the 2nd Lancome product I have recieved from this advent calendar. Base off the name, I am guessing that this another anti-aging serum that can be incorporated in our skincare routine.
I like how Lancôme really put a lot of thought into their samples and this one came along with a dropper for easier usage.

You can check more of this product out on amazon.

I will be having 2 final exams this week, so I will have to keep my posts short and sweet :)

<3 Rachel

P.S. I posted a Nail Of The Day today, incase you wanna check it out :)

Loose Button Luxe Advent Calendar: 9th December

Hey guys!
Hope your December is going well so far.
Today will be a super short post. Sorry about the dark pictures, the lighting in my room is hard to photograph with.

Behind door 9 today is another skin-care product...
...Giorgio Armani Regenessence [3.R] Multi-corrective rejuvenating cream.

I did a little research and here was what the Giorgio Armani site described this product as:
Acts on skin surface to reduce wrinkles, firm skin, correct tone and texture irregularities, and provide 8 hours of hydration. In a silky lightweight texture that leaves skin feeling like velvet. For use day and night after the REGENESSENCE [3.R] Youth Regenerator.
This product goes along with the Regenessence Youth Regenerator, which I got back on the 4th of December. I will link the blog post here if you wanna check it out :)
Like what I've said in that post, I will be giving this product to my mom when I visit my parents this Christmas holiday.

You can purchase this product for $28 bucks on amazon.

See you guys tomorrow!

Loose Button Luxe Advent Calendar: 7th December

Hey everyone :),

I hope your December is going well so far! We're well into the 1st week and we have 17 more days til Christmas!

Today, door number 7 led me to the Lancôme Visionnaire Advance Skin Corrector.

To be honest, I am pretty new to skin-care products out there as I've been religiously faithful to Clinique and several drug store brands ever since I was 14. I never had to urge to drastically step out of my comfort-zone and change my routine.

Naturally, I was over-whelmed with the amount of skin-care products I've received in this 7 days so far... 3 samples out of 7, that's ~43%; a lot if you were to ask me :P

I had no idea what this product was nor have I heard anything about it so I did a little research and this was how it was described in Sephora:
More than a wrinkle-corrector, this product is capable of fundamentally re-creating more beautiful skin. The first skincare product with [LR 2412 4%], a molecule designed to propel through skin layers, it triggers a cascading series of micro-transformations along its path. On the surface, wrinkles and pores are visibly corrected. Imperfections like signs of UV damage and acne marks appear diminished.
Sounds pretty much like the last 2 products I've obtained from Day 3 & Day 4.

I currently trying out the serum from Shu from Day 4, and will wait til I finish that before I try this one out.

I really like how Lancôme included a wand applicator to make usage easier. It really goes to show how much thought and care they had put in to produce this sample.

This is a serum, so should go on after the moisturizer followed by your day or night cream. :)

You can find out more about this product and purchase it at amazon.com

See you guys tomorrow!

Rachel

Loose Button Luxe Advent Calendar: 4th December

Hey guys,

Behind the 4th door, was the Giorgio Armani Regenessence [3.R] Youth Regenerator.

This product is claimed to contain 3 powerful regenerating ingredients to promote the regeneration of the skin. This is used to help firm, plump, and provide radiance and refined skin. It also claims that in "6 days, the skin will look visibly younger, wrinkles appear smoothed out, skin tone appears more even, and the radiance is visibly restored".

This can be integrated in both your day and night skincare routine.
I was pretty disappointed when I opened the door to see a small sized sample (3mL), especially after 3 days of impressively deluxe ones, this seems like a sample I could easily get over the counter. Being 21, I don't think this sample would be something within my interest range as I am not battling wrinkles or dullness (knock on wood).

However, looking at the reviews, I found loads of good reviews. This is something I would probably give my mom to try out :) and probably a good Christmas gift to someone who is in the market for a good anti-aging care. This product is pretty pricey, and retails for $140 on amazon.

Have a great rest of your day and see you tomorrow!

xoxo,
Rachel

Loose Button Luxe Advent Calendar: 3rd December

I am honestly loving the daily surprise, especially when I had a long day of studying for finals, it is lovely to take a break to open a door, check out the product and blog about it!

It's well into the middle of the night of the 3rd and I apologize for the lighting. I had to use a flash so that the product would appear in the background. :)

Hiding behind door 3 is a the ShuUemura Phyto-black lift Youth degree remodeling anti-wrinkle concentrate (wow that was a mouth full!)

I was seriously impressed by the size of the sample! I was given 10mL (0.3oz), which is a pretty good amount to experiment with. I have not tried any skincare products from Shu Uemura and have heard loads of good stuff about it.

According the the Shu Uemura website, this product is describe to be:

a lightweight fluid with the highest concentration of phyto-black actives. empowered with the powerful asian black phyto ingredient, shiitake extract, that stimulates and protects various types of collagens for wrinkle reduction and skin density. fine lines and wrinkles look diminished and skin looks firmer, smoother and younger. suitable for all skin types.

The sample comes with a dropper, which makes application easier and more sanitized. The smell of the concentrate is that of light and refreshing. :)
You can purchase this product at any Shu Uemura counters, or visit their website (by clicking on me). This product retails at $155 for 1.01oz. Considering that I got almost a third of the full-size product, I am pretty happy. :)

If you are like me and are pretty confuse about when and where to apply this product, here's what I understood from their website:
  1. Cleanse your face
  2. Apply your moisturizer
  3. Apply this concentrate around eyes and areas of concern
  4. Follow up with another face cream.
I believe this product can be used for both day time and night time. I will definitely be integrating this into my daily routine.

Overall, I am really happy with this advent Calendar. I like how Loose Button made sure that we do not receive items from the same brand back to back.

Hope you're having a great December thus far!
See you guys tomorrow!! :)

xoxo,
Rachel
