Loose Button's 2012 Luxe Advent Calendar!

Hey everyone!

I was literally jumping for joy and excitement when I saw a box right when I entered my house. I knew for sure that it was going to be my long awaited Luxe Advent Calendar from Loose Button!

This is basically an advent calendar for December 1st all the way to the 24th. So, there are 24 deluxe size beauty products from Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, Giorgio Armani and Shu Uemura! I do not usually splurge on high-end beauty products, so this is definitely a great opportunity to try them out. :)

Unfortunately, for those who are interested in purchasing this limited edition calendar, it is sold out - I ordered mine back in mid-October. This was a definitely a splurge and costed me $109 + shipping.

Anyways, I would like for you guys to join me in the daily 'unboxing' surprise :) I will be blogging everyday from 1st - 24th of December about the product that is part of the specific day. :)

Til next time!

Racheese

IPSY's November Glam Bag - 1st Canadian Edition

It's IPSY's 1st glam bag to arrive into Canada & my first post in this blog... how fitting :)

IPSY is basically a monthly subscription service based in the US. They promise 4-5 beauty products in a makeup bag for $10USD (I paid around 14CAD which included shipping). What's special about IPSY compared to the other monthly beauty subscription service companies, is that IPSY has a members community domain in which they encourage their members to share looks and tips to each other. That's pretty darn cool if you were to ask me.

I am a complete sucker for beauty boxes, so naturally I jumped the gun when I saw an ad on facebook about the first glam bag coming to Canada.

A couple weeks later, I finally received the Party Perfect November glam bag!

This month's bag included 5 items

1.   Éclos  – Plant Stem Cell Face Serum
It is a morning and night face serum made of Swiss phyto extract to reduce wrinkles and promote a more youthful complexion. I have never heard of this brand and am keen to see whether it works well. Just by smelling it, the serum reminds me of a concoction of chinese herbs, the pump has a really off-putting smell. To be honest, I think the smell itself would be the biggest hurdle for me to even want to put this on my face.

2.   Starlet Cosmetics – Eye pencil (Chocolate)

Another brand I have yet to try! This time this is an eye linear. the color I got was chocolate, which is a nice milk chocolate color. It is perfect for days where I want to sport a more natural look or a good smoky eye.

3.   The Balm – Meet Matt(e) eyeshadow in Matt Batali
Matt Batali is a matt dark chocolate a perfect multi-purpose product to use as a powder eyeliner or to finish off a smoky eye. I know that I will definitely put some good use into this. I love the small packaging, making it travel friendly.

4.   Nailtini – Millionaire
Saying that I am OBSESSED with nail polish is an understatement. I love receiving polishes and this is for sure a unique bottle of one. It is basically a clear polish filled with millions of gold and green vertical glitter polish! It is so eye-catching and would look great on it's own or layered with a darker color! This is definitely going to be one of the polish I see myself using the most during the holiday season. I will probably do a swatch and full review about it within the next couple of weeks :)

5.   Benefit – They’re Real Mascara
I own a full-size bottle of this mascara myself and find this is to be both volumizing and lengthening  but, I find that I am still reaching for my Maybelline Illegal length and Falsies mascaras more.

Along with the bag of goodies, I also received a blending brush along with a pretty pink travel bag. They send some promotional cards with discounts for the brands that were included in the bag.

My Thoughts:
IPSY glam bag reminded me a lot of the Canadian based subscription service - Glymm. I like that it came with a make-up bag which is more eco-friendly and useful compared to boxes. For $10USD a month, the items that I received was definitely worth more than what I spent, however; with that said, I will not be subscribing to another month due to the extra surcharge for shipping and the currency exchange. If I were to be located in the US, this is a company I would definitely see myself subscribing to!

On another note, I found it a little annoying that I had to go on to the IPSY website to find out more about the products  instead of a card that explains everything. Other than that, I am pretty impressed with the bag as a whole.

I hope you guys found this post useful. :)
If you received a glam bag this month, I would love to hear your opinions on it!
